“The Connections, the connections, the connections” by Charles Eames
This was the first exercise that I had to do for my masters in Industrial Design. Keeping it simple and easily re-settable. With these two premises in my mind I wanted to add something related with my country and cultural background. I was attracted by the images of windmills. Ancient structures with ethnographic and cultural references which are universal due to «El Quijote». At first it was an easy one-way spin trigger but then I made it more complex with 3 levels of connected movements and with nylon threats in order to slow down the movement.
Even though it was a small project, it reveals me an important lesson about design in general: there are many factors in the process of thinking and making that we cannot control. As designers we have to be one step forward and be able to react quickly with the best possible option.
Communication has been a key point during the whole year and in this project it was essential and the most difficult part of it. I was used to deal with other people but cultural issues has been tough. On the top of that working with people from other countries has been the most enriching experience of this whole year.

Este fue el primer ejercicio que tube que hacer para mi máster en Diseño Industrial. Debía ser sencillo y fácilmente re – configurable . Con estas dos premisas en mi mente que quería añadir algo relacionado con mi país y cultura. Me sentí atraído por las imágenes de los molinos de viento . Estructuras antiguas con referencias etnográficas y culturales que son universales debido a » El Quijote » . Al principio se trataba de un solo sentido de giro gatillo fácil , pero luego me hizo más complejo con 3 niveles de movimientos conectados y con amenazas de nylon con el fin de reducir la velocidad del movimiento.
A pesar de que se trataba de un proyecto pequeño , me revela una lección importante sobre el diseño en general : hay muchos factores en el proceso de pensar y de hacer que no podemos controlar. Como diseñadores tenemos que estar un paso adelante y ser capaz de reaccionar rápidamente con la mejor opción posible.
La comunicación ha sido un punto clave durante todo el año y en este proyecto era esencial y la parte más difícil de la misma. Yo estaba acostumbrado a tratar con otras personas , pero las cuestiones culturales ha sido difícil. En la parte superior de ese trabajo con personas de otros países ha sido la experiencia más enriquecedora de todo este año .
